Hufford tops field to claim first
The season opener is in the book for the Ohio Wheelman Series Street Stocks. M-40 Speedway in Jones, Michigan played host the the series opener and after a great and competitive 40 lap feature event the #5 of Tyler Hufford ended up on top. The Michigan native showed his local experience as he made the right moves and pulled away from the field late. 2nd position went to our defending champion Jeff Kuykendall. Kuykendall set a new track record in time trials earlier in the day with a lap time of 14.758. Rounding out the podium is Chris Hamilton. Always a fierce competitor, Chris followed the leaders through the pack and made a move in the final laps to secure the third position. On to Jennerstown Speedway in Pennsylvania on May 9th.

The Series expands its horizon!
I am back with the Ohio Wheelman Super Series in 2026 as their Social Media Manager, Photographer, marketing assistant and Race day Official. The Series which ran the Street stocks in 2025 for its 6th year of operation has expanded for the 2026 season. The Street Stocks will still headline but additions come in the way of the BK Racing Pro Compact Series which currently will compete with 3 events scheduled. Also added are the Wiggins Construction Juicebox Karts. The Juicebox karts will be driven by the youth, ages ranging from 3 to 6 years old. The Juicebox (Whole season) and Pro Compacts (3 Events) will race along side the Street stocks. The excitement is building as the Ohio Wheelman Series will compete in three different states this year across 4 venue and 8 dates. There is a chance of another date being added mid season so stay tuned. You can find regular updates on their facebook page.

Lucius and Miller reign supreme!

June 7th, 2025
Headed into the 2025 500 Sprint Car Tour series driver Bobby Santos III was looking to improve his on track performance. Well needless to say he did that and more to start the day in Toledo. Setting fast time santos III turned a fast lap of 14.735. Then came time for the redraw and Lady Luck shined down on Bobby as he drew the #1 position. When the green flag waved on the 40 lap feature event Santos III hit the gas and never looked back as the race ran flag to flag securing the driver of the DJ Racing #98 a sweet victory in the Glass City and at Toledo Speedway. The 40 lap feature event was completed in just 10 minutes, 45 seconds!

TAGLINE!
Twice as Nice!
Twice as nice!Saturday night marked the third race of the 2025 Ohio Wheelman Series season and the first King of Ohio mini-series event. The Schwark Memorial presented by SELFIETIMECLE at Midvale Speedway was another example of why the OWS is a premier street stock series. Earl Goldy started the day strong by capturing the fast time and setting a new track record with a lap time of 15.380. The two heat races were won by Brady Carte and Joshua Way. Once the 50 lap feature rolled around the field was set. Feature action was fast and close for the first 20 laps until a simple caution began a cycle of cautions including a spin by the #4 of Tristan Crago that turned out to be much more. The track was coated in rear end fluid found to be leaking out of the #33 ride of Joe Coursen. After an intensive and lengthy clean up we went back to racing where the #48 of Matt Wilson took off and never looked back. Matt Wilson would go on to with the race, his 2nd of the season. Matt won the season opener at Lorain Raceway Park.

Mother Nature adds to her 2025 win total on the season. We thought dry and warm weather would prevail for night number one of the Western PA speed week but Mother Nature hit the water bottle causing the cancellation of Michaels Mercer Raceway yet again during Sprint Speedweek. The week long event will head to Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Motor Speedway tomorrow May 29th where the racers and fans alike look to take the green flag!
Wester PA Sprint Speedweek Kick off

RACEDAY!
Yes, you read that right. It is race day at Michaels Mercer Raceway for the kick off to Western PA Sprint Speedweek!
410 Sprints, 602 Modifieds and Mini Stocks are on tap for tonight's event card. This will be my first trip to the venue and I am excited to finally visit this track. If you don't have plans then I suggest you head on over to 555 Fairground Road in Mercer, PA for a mid week show sure to get you on the edge of your seat. Even if you do have plans, reschedule them as this is a one night show because that's how Speedweeks work. One night, one track and then off to the next show!

Way Wins Big
May 27th, 2025
Saturday May 24th ended a winless streak for one Ohio Wheelman Super Series driver. The Sliman's Fast 40 at Sandusky Speedway marked just the 2nd race of the 2025 season for the Ohio Wheelman Super Series Street Stocks. A day that saw plenty of great racing action at the half mile asphalt oval in Sandusky, Ohio ended with the #55 of Josh Way besting the field and claiming his first series win in over a season. The runner up position was contested for the final 15 laps as the #33 of Joe Coursen and the #5 of Josh Poore waged war over that podium position. Only after the final restart was the #33 of Coursen finally be able to get around the #5 of Poore. Respectable and clean racing were the topic of the evening as the 2025 season opener at Lorain Raceway Park was anything but. The top 10 at Sandusky for the Ohio Wheelman Series feature looks as follows:
Winner: #55 Josh WAy
2nd: #33 Joe Coursen
3rd: #5p Josh Poore
4th: #08 Earl Goldy
5th: #12 Jeff Kuykendall
6th: #4 Tristan Crago
7th: #8 Jesse Fischbach
8th: #27 Eddy Poderzay
9th: #5L Blake Lawson
10th: #77 Jason Drummond
Fast Time: Joe Coursen (19.819)
Dash Winner: Earl Goldy
Heat 1 Winner: Josh Way
Heat 2 Winner: Eddy Poderzay
Weather has made it difficult to get events completed for the OWS this year but but thankfully rescheduled dates have been found and utilized for later this year for the cancelled events. The Series looks to head to Midvale Speedway on May 31st for the first KING OF OHIO mini Series race, The Schwark Memorial presented by SELFIEtime CLE.

Let it Rain, Confetti!
Shackleford Claims the Buckeye Figure-8 Nationals title at the Battleground, Painesville Speedway. The 100 lap feature event saw the fan favorite break, multiple cautions, great side by side action the, Battleground lived up to its name. Jeffrey Shackleford out of Indianapolis started 5th in the field and methodically picked off his competitors to reach the top spot, once he did there was no looking back allowing him to claim the 5th annual running of the event. The runner up position would go to Kevin Brooks, third to Ricky Heine, fourth to Bill Early and rounding out the top five in fifth, Race Loving!

New Milestone!
Back with the OWS!
January 10th, 2025
Left Turn Photo Works has been offered a 4th year option to be the official media outlet of the Ohio Wheelman Super Series. A primier Street Stock racing series across the Buckeye state, Pennsylvania, Michigan and West Virginia the OWS has grown year over year and has hosted 10-12 events per season. I look forward to another series as the photographer, social media manager, marketing assistant and race day official.
Addy 44 returns to Left Turn for 2nd year!
